Manchester United have completed the signing of Argentine international Marcos Rojo on a five year contract from Sporting Lisbon.

It was announced yesterday in the afternoon that he would join for €20m (£16m) + Nani's wages (£4.8m) as he goes in the opposite direction on loan.

Marcos is a great young talent who emerged as one of the world cups stars as the defender featured in the team of he tournament.

At 24 year old he is a young prospect who could blossom in a Manchester United shirt. The defender takes the former no.5 left by Rio Ferdinand leaving himself a big void to fill.

Marcos Rojo said at his unveiling:

"It is such an honour to say that I now play for Manchester United. The Premier League is the most exciting league in the world and to have the chance to play in it for the world's biggest club is a dream for me."

"I am young and am very keen to continue to learn the game, so playing for such an experienced technical coach as Louis van Gaal is a fantastic opportunity for me."

"I have joined United to work hard with my team-mates to win trophies and I know that the manager shares that ambition."

Very happy an optimistic the Argentine as he searches for trophies and development under Louis Van Gaal.

Louis Van Gaal on the transfer said:

"Marcos is a very gifted defender. He has played at the highest level in world football and can play either as a central defender or left-back."

"He has ability, physical strength and a willingness to learn that means he has a very bright future ahead of him."

"He had a very strong World Cup and has been playing in Europe for a couple of years now. He is a very good addition to the team."

Personally in my belief a great signing for Van Gaal to develop into a young talent who will more than certain take the world by storm.
