Batman and Robin sink Palace

This is a significant day for Manchester United as United legend George Best made his debut 50 years ago. The last time Crystal Palace came to Old Trafford it would be one to forget as United lost 2-1.Man United bench new signing Marouane Fellaini after completing his £27.5m move to Old Trafford. Man United surprisingly start Wayne Rooney after a nasty deep cut on his forehand looked to keep him out also United have no Rafael or Phil Jones who are still out injured as Antonino Valencia, Fabio and Anderson. Crystal Palace made 14 signings in the recent transfer window but they will be without Johnny Williams and Jack Hunt who both have ankle injuries and Adrian Mariappa starts in centre of defence as new signing Barry Bannan, Jimmy Kebe and Cameron Jerome.

2 minutes into the match when Ashley Young had passed the ball out wide on the left to Wayne Rooney. Rooney with a headband on to protect his head wound. The English striker had looked up and had saw Michael Carrick on the edge of the box. Carrick had time as his shot had been hit very well but was saved by Palace's reliable keeper Julian Speroni.

34 minutes into the match as good movement and slick passing from Ashley Young,Anderson and Evra opened up Palace down the left. Evra had got the ball across as Robin Van Persie and Rooney waited in the box. The Frenchman had crossed the ball into the area as Van Persie had tried to flick the ball past Speroni as the ball goes just wide. 

3 minutes later when good play from Manchester United found Rooney in the midfield. Rooney had looked up and saw the run of Dutchman Robin Van Persie as it had gone over the Palace defence. Van Persie had smashed the ball up against the upright as Palace had held on by the post saving them.

3 minutes away from half time as Mile Jedinak had spotted the run of Dwight Gayle. Jedinak had got the ball over Rio Ferdinand as Gayle closed down on goal with the Spaniard David De Gea but Gayle had tried to chip the ball over De Gea. Gayle's shot had gone just the other side of the left hand post.

1 minute later as Young had sprinted through the middle bearing down on goal when Kagisho Dikgacoi had fouled Young and the red had decided to give United a penalty. Dikgacoi had been sent off as Van Persie stepped up as United fans hoped for the ball to go in as the Dutchman had finished the ball into the left hand corner sending Speroni the wrong way. United fans celebrate as lead 1-0. Van Persie has now scored 5 goals this season.

At Halftime and Man United go into the break 1-0 up as Van Persie has put United ahead through a penalty. The penalty may not have been one but it is very debatable. Ashley Young has also been booked for diving which will not reflect well on the club. Man United have dominated possession and been in control but a warning from Palace as Dwight Gayle went close. The game is not won yet but United are in the driving seat. Will we see Marouane Fellaini?

3 minutes after the restart as Anderson had the ball. Anderson had slipped through yellow carded Ashley Young as he's timed the run perfectly. Young had hit a shot at Speroni as he had punched it away to safety. 

55 minutes had past as Ashley Young had riggled past the Palace defender and found space to cut in. Young shot from the right hand side had curled round and gone just wide of the goal leaving Palace's fans hearts in their mouths.

61 minutes in when a significant moment happened the £27.5m signing Marouane Fellaini had came on for Anderson. A massive lift for United fans as they look to see the afro man comes onto the Man United pitch for the first time as a United player.

Half way through the second half when Palace had been under pressure and ha cleared the ball only out to the edge of the box were Man United new boy Marouane Fellaini had been to chest the ball down and fired a shot aiming for the left hand corner as Speroni dived to deny him a dream start. From the corner and Robin Van Persie had played the ball short to Manchester United subsituite Adnan Januzaj as he had played the ball back to Van Persie with space and time. Van Persie had struck the ball just above the left hand side of Speroni's goal.

10 minutes left when Januzaj had been fouled 25 yards from goal. With Van Persie off the pitch Wayne Rooney grabbed the ball and had placed it down. United fans waiting for another goal to secure the win as Rooney had stepped up with confidence getting the ball over the Palace four man wall and into the bottom right hand corner of goal with Speroni chasing the ball but the Argentine keeper couldn't get a hand to it as Rooney scored his first goal of this new campaign. The United faithful look relaxed as a 2-0 lead looks to get United the three points.

At full time and United cruise to a two nil win with Rooney and Van Persie performing a deadly partnership as they both scored from dead ball situation. David Moyes gets his first win at Old Trafford. Marouane Fellaini impressed for the last 30 minutes showing strength and power also Januzaj was one of the stand out performances as he is something for the future. As it stands United are 2nd but there are still all the weekend's games. Manchester United play Bayern Leverkusen on Tuesday 7:45pm in their first game for this years Champions League.
