Belgium 2-1 South Korea Group H
Belgium secured top spot of group H as a late counter-attacking goal made them unbeaten throughout the group stage maintaining a 100% win percentage.
The game itself was very open with either team looking to score in the final minutes of the game.
The goal came on 78 minutes when he South Korea goalkeeper parried out to Jan Vertonghen who had been onrushing. The Tottenham Hotspur defender made no mistake as he side footed home into the bottom of the net to ensure a 100% win rate.
The main talking point in the game was that of Stephen Defour who was sent off in the first half for a nasty looking challenge on South Korea player. The challenge was dangerous and he showed he studs when he went in to try and get the ball. It could have ended very bad for a South Korean player.
Although Belgium did win the game both teams showed a lack of composure in the final third.South Korea had many chances to score in the final five minutes but could not take any of their chances.
Unfortunately for South Korea they are now sent home to their native country with fellow group members Russia. As for Belgium they qualify top of group H and go through to the round of 16 where they will face in the United States of America.
