Chelsea Vs Manchester United- BPL Game 33
An impressive performance was greeted with a disappointing defeat as Manchester United lost one nil to Chelsea away from home.
United having nearly 63% of possession could not capitalise on the chances that they were presented as the one good chance that Chelsea had they took.
United dictated play early on grabbing possession and moving ball around well, however the first big chance went to Wayne Rooney.
We had found space down the left hand side and got the ball into Wayne Rooney on the edge of the box. Rooney was unmarked and had a clear shot at goal however his shot had gone just wide of the top left-hand corner as everyone in the stadium everyone on TV had assumed it had gone in.
The second big chance was the deciding goal as Eden Hazard had been set through by Oscar one on one with David De Gea. One-on-one two of the best players in the Premier league went but it was Hazard who won this time placing the ball through the keepers legs and putting Chelsea one nil up.
To be fair the Red Devils had dominated the first half an hour but for the four of five minutes leading up to the goal, Chelsea had looked to be coming into the game a lot more.
At half time it was clear to see that Chelsea were on the back foot and chasing the ball a lot more whereas United were controlled in possession and dominant but not creating enough chances.
Into the second half and Chelsea could have made it to 2-0 when Ander Herrera's misplaced pass had allowed Didier Drogba through on goal with Chris Smalling chasing him. The shot had been deflected and found Eden Hazard at the back post but his shot from close range had clipped the crossbar.
United then started back into the game as Paddy McNair saw his shot from 20 yards pushed away by Courtois.
Manchester United then again had dominance on the ball and continued to press and push Chelsea.
Radamel Falcao has been out of form and stuck on the bench lately but he had a great chance to draw United level on 71 minutes. Having being played through one-on-one with Courtois on the left hand side. Falcao had taken the shot which had hit the top of the crossbar leaving Courtois on the floor stranded. The Colombian striker would have got On-Target it would have gone in.
Chelsea had then let United come onto them deploying their usual park the bus tactic as United pushed and pushed for an equaliser. Chelsea however killed the game off and at the full-time whistle gained all three points.
At full time it was not predictable but it was disappointing to see United play in a good way and not get three points.
