Hammered away from home
Manchester United are looking to avoid a third home league defeat in a row as the Hammers want to push away from the Premier Leagues drop zone.
Manchester United make one change to the team that beat Aston Villa as Chris Smalling replaces Ryan Giggs but Wayne Rooney does start after some feared he might be out for a while when he missed out in mid week but is starting today.

West Ham make two changes as Adrian makes his league debut as the Hammers also bring in Matt Taylor for Joe Cole.

One minute into the match as United had taken a short corner to Adnan Januzaj on the right hand side. The youngster had crossed a low ball in which Evans had tried to get to but it had hit him and rolled along to Tom Cleverley. The Englishman had shot at goal as it looked to be bouncing into the bottom right hand corner but goalkeeper Adrian had made a fantastic diving save.
12 minutes into the match as the former Man United youngster Ravel Morrison had fouled Wayne Rooney on the edge of the box. Rooney would take just on the edge 20 yards out as the shot went just over the bar on the right hand side.
Halfway through the first half when the ball had been played to Welbeck on the left near the goal. A quick flick had found Rooney as the United fans quickly rise in hope. Welbeck had continued his run and Rooney threaded it through to him on the left hand side. The two goal man at Aston Villa had drilled his shot into the bottom right hand corner as the ball went under Adrian and into the net. United fans relieved and more relaxed now as United have never lost when Welbeck has scored.
10 minutes later when on the left hand side when Januzaj had played the ball to Welbeck's feet and continued running. The youngster had been given the ball back as United fans begin to rise and hope. James Collins had faced him up as a fake shot had fooled the hammers centre half and then Januzaj transferred it back onto his right and slotted the ball into the right hand corner another fantastic goal. United fans celebrate in joy as Januzaj scores his first goal at Old Trafford.
5 minutes until half time when United had counter attacked West Ham as the ball found Rafael on the right hand side and then the Brazilian had pulled the ball back to Antonio Valencia as he's shot went over the goal such a good chance goes begging.
At half time as Manchester United got into the break two goals thanks to Danny Welbeck and then Adnan Januzaj cooly finished past Adrian.
Manchester United have been the better team by far and haven't looked at all troubled by the Hammers and could yet score more.
West Ham have been lacklustre and have not had one shot on goal which will truly need to be improved on in the next 45 minutes.
3 minutes after the restart when Manchester United had won a corner on the right hand side. The corner had been taken short by Rooney as he gave to Januzaj. The youngster had given the ball back to the striker as Rooney crossed into the box where Evans had been with a free header. The header had looked to be going in as Mark Noble cleared the ball off the line.
20 minutes left when Rafael had clipped a ball over the top for Valencia to run onto. The winger had drilled the ball back to Rooney as United fans continued to sing in full voice. Rooney had turned and rolled the ball to substitute Ashley Young and with his first touch he curled and rifled the ball into the top right hand corner a fantastic finish from Young as United fans celebrate that was Young's first Premier league goal this season.
10 minutes left when Magio Magia had threaded a ball through to Carlton Cole as the West Ham fans stop and wait and hope. Cole had slipped the ball through the legs of David De Gea and into the net as he scores his second goal for the club since re signing in October. West Ham fans chant "were going to win 4-3" even louder now.
Full time as United win 3-1 convincingly. Three fantastic goals from Danny Welbeck, youngster Adnan Januzaj and mid week cup hero Ashley Young. Carlton Cole added just before the end to give the travellers something to cheer about.
Manchester United looked comfortable at home for once this season a classy and compatible display.
West Ham looked out of the game as soon as the first goal went in but did score none the less.
Next up for Manchester United is a trip to the KC stadium on Boxing Day to face Hull City at 12:45pm.
