Manchester United 0-0 Newcastle United- BPL Game 3

No end product. That is were I will start this match report. United having gone into the game with a 100% win record must have been quietly confident.

However the lack of end product today has left them with a stalemate goal-less draw.

A striker will definitely be on the minds of Louis Van Gaal when he observes this performance within the next few days.

Wayne Rooney does not however sole responsibility for today's draw which in truth felt like a defeat.

Our defence and goalkeeper were yet again as a clean sheet was provided for the fourth game in a row.

Into the match and the first big chance went Juan Mata as his shot was saved brilliantly by Tim Krul at his left hand post.

United would continue to press on Kruls goal but every shot seemed to be comfortably saved. Newcastle then had a brilliant chance to grab a one goal lead as the crossbar had been rattled by striker Aleksandar Mitrović.

In the first half United had hit 5 or 6 shots on target but were unable to test Krul enough to put it past him.

In the second half United and within two minutes Rooney saw his shot blocked and then Mata pinged a ball over the bar! Both were amazing chances which had no end product on the end of them.

Substitute Javier Hernandez then had the best chance to put United one up when he went through one on one but went low hitting Krul instead of chipping him.

Fabio Coloccini then blocked Valencia's effort as United pushed for a winner. Chris Smalling then saw his header hit the post before Newcastle went on a counter attacking break and nearly snatched a winner.

But at full time it ended 0-0 with United having 19 attempts but failing to convert. Their was no end product and the performance evidently showed that United are in desperate need for a striker.
