Wembley horror!

The last time these two teams met at Old Trafford in December 2012 when United won 3-1. Sunderland have not lost away from home since November. Man United make five changes from the side the lost in the first leg as Javier Hernandez,Chris Smalling,Shinji Kagawa, Alexander Buttner and Darren Fletcher all come into the side. 

 

Man United XI:De Gea; Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Buttner; Januzaj, Carrick, Fletcher, Kagawa; Welbeck, Hernandez.

 

Subs:Lindegaard, Evra, Jones, Cleverley, Giggs, Young, Valencia. 

 

Sunderland make two changes from the side that won in the first leg as Adam Johnson who has scored four goals in his last two games for the black cats. The only other change is Jack Colback who also comes back into the side. 

 

Sunderland XI: Mannone, Bardsley, Alonso, Brown, O'Shea, Cattermole, Colback, Ki, Johnson, Borini, Fletcher. 

 

Subs: Larsson, Gardner, Celustka, Altidore, Giaccherini,Vergini, Ustari 

 

6 minutes into the match when Fabio Borini had fouled youngster Adnan Januzaj on the right hand side. Referee Lee Mason had awarded a free kick which Januzaj would take. The starlet had crossed the ball into the back post as Javier Hernandez had pulled away from the defender to head a shot goalwards. The headed had bounced up forcing Vincent Mannoe to push the ball away from danger. 

 

18 minutes had past as a series of good passes had found Johnson in a right back position. The in form midfielder had time to pick a pass as he lashed a long ball over the top for Borini. The ball had gone over Johnny Evans head as the Sunderland striker had been in witg Brazilian Rafael on his back as the ball had dropped perfectly for Borini to strike a volley which had gone just over the bar. Goalkeeper David De Gea had beaten as the strikers shot goes an inch over the bar. 

 

36 minutes in when Kagawa had crossed the ball into the back post had found Fletcher as he had shot st goal but the ball had cannoned back off the post to Welbeck who's shot had provided a fantastic save from Mannoe. 

 

One minute later as Man United had won corner on the right hand side which would take as the fans look for something to relieve the anxiety that surrounds Old Trafford. The corner had found Welbeck to flick the ball onto Evans who had ghosted away from former United defender John O'shea to head past Mannoe and into the net! Man United let out a massive sigh of relief as Danny Welbeck has now scored or assisted in 8 goals in his last 10 apperances. 

 

At half time as Manchester United have gone into the lead through a Johnny Evans goal which wad assisted by in form striker Danny Welbeck drawing United level in the tie. 

 

Manchester United have played well in certain aspect as they still remain open to counter attacks but at the moment they have drawn level and are looking good when going forward. 

 

Sunderland have looked good defensively but have only had one shot so far which may be a problem as they are looking to score again in the second half but at the moment that still in the game out at 2-2 on aggregate. 

 

9 minutes after the restart when Januzaj had passed the ball to Carrick in the Sunderland half. Carrick had given the ball back to the 18 year old . Januzaj had time and space to shoit as he's shot h. had gone just wide of the right hand post. 

 

75 minutes had past when Borini had got the ball on the left hand side and crossed into the box as Johnson at the back post. The in form midfielder had taken the ball down on his chedt as Alexander Buttner had slipped, Johnson shot had bobbled just wide of the right hand post, as Sunderland fans raise their voices in belief.

 

Into injury time as Javier Hernandez had been fouled by O'shea on the edge of the box. Januzaj woukd take with the pressure going as United fans hold their breath, the youngster had chipped the ball over the wall as Mannoe had leaped to catch the ball. At full time as we go to extra time. Johnny Evans goal means that Sunderland will need to score if they want to go to Wembley. As away goals count after extra time has finished. 

 

11 minutes into extra time when Januzaj on the right hand side had slipped past Jack Colback and threaded through Hernandez who had been clean through and could set United up for a trip to Wembley but the curking shot had gone wide of the left hand post the clearest opportunity of the game.

 

At half time extra time and every player looks very fatigued but Hernandez has had the best chance going clean through but couldn't curl it into the left hand corner of the net.

 

21 minutes of extra time had past when Man United had counter attacked through the middle with Januzaj who had run at the Sunderland defence it had been 2 on 2. Jones had sprinted 70 yards to catch up with play as the youngster had taken a shot which was saved easily by Mannoe. 

 

Into injury time when Bardsley had been given the ball just outside the box and decided to have a shot at goal. It had look to be an easy save for De Gea as the ball had been straight but a crucial mistake had seen the ball stroll into the net. Bad time to make a mistake as United look to be heading out.

 

In the death of injury time when Januzaj had played a one two with Smallimg on the left hand sideas the youngster had crossed the ball into the box were Hernandezad been to fire thr ball into thr top right hand corner. Unbelievable stuff as Hernandez scores his 7th goal of the season. 

 

The game had gone to penalties... Sunderland- Gardner missed,S.Flecther missed, Alonso scores, Ki scores, Johnson missed Manchester United- Welbeck missed, D. Fletcher scored, Januzaj missed, Jones missed, Rafael missed.

 

Full time as Man United are knocked out on penalties losing 2-1 Rafael's penalty lost the game for Unitedn the end but De Gea's mistake provided vital as an easy save their would have changed the game
