Moyes Own 3 points

                                 
Manchester United have never scored more than one goal against Spanish opposition in the last 12 matches. Whereas Real Sociedad have not won one of their last eight European matches.

Manchester United have no Robin Van Persie in the side as Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez start upfront. Adnan Januzaj is demoted to the bench as Shinji Kagawa gets his chance also Ryan Giggs comes in for the big Belgian Marouane Fellaini who is on the bench.

Real Sociedad Xabi Prieto makes his first start after a hamstring. Sociedad top scorer Carlos Vela starts on the right trying to maybe prove a point. 

1 minute into the match when Patrice Evra had dispossessed rhe defender and passed out to Rooney out on the left. The Manchester United fans had just began to take their seats,Rooney had dribbled inside two and into the box as United fans looked excited. The 26 year old had just about got a shot away with four Sociedad players around him as the shot had hit the post and bounced up awkwardly as Ingo Martinez put the ball in his own net. Pressure had been relieved as David Moyes looked a little more relaxed.

13 minutes into this match when Man United had pressured again. Antonio Valencia had skipped the challenge of the defender on the right and ha given it out wide to Rafael. Man United fans had been looking good so far as the Brazilian fizzed in a cross were Rooney and Hernandez were unmarked. The Mexican had left the ball as Rooney side footed the ball into the right hand corner but Sociedad keeper Claudio Bravo had dived to the right and parried the ball away.

28 minutes had gone in the game as Giggs had lost the ball in midfield as the ball had fell in an attacking position to number 9 Haris Seferovic. Johnny Evans and Phil Jones had been holding back as Seferovic shot from the edge of the box had been deflected off of Evans and pushed over by David De Gea. That had been Sociedad's first shot on goal as United continue to dominate possession.

3 minutes from half time when Man United had given away a free kick away on the edge of the box which captain Prieto had tried to take it quickly by had been booked for doing that. On the second take it had been Antoine Griezmann to strike over the five man wall. The number 7 had looped it over the wall and it had looked to be going into the top left hand corner beating De Gea but the post had come to Man United's rescue. A fantastic free kick had De Gea beaten by the angles had been just off from Griezmann.

At half time as Man United go into the break one goal to the good after an own goal from Wayne Rooney's shot just 2 minutes into the match. The referee has brandished 5 yellow cards in 45 minutes which is very suspicious. Man United will need to focus if they do not want a repeat of Saturday but Man United have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine Champions League matches.

52 minutes had past after the restart when Real Sociedad had come back into the game a bit but as Man United had won a corner that Rooney would take. A short corner had been given to Kagawa as the Japanese star turned a chipped a ball into the back post at the right hand side where Phil Jones had been. The 21 year olds header had been strong but well saved by Bravo.

6 minutes later when Sociedad had attacked down the right with Alberto De La Bella. He had been followed by Rafael as he had found an inch of space to shoot. The shot had caught De Gea out at his left hand post as the ball had hit the post. Sociedad showing that try are not yet out of the game.

4 minutes later when Rooney had turned in the attacking third and picked out Valencia in space through on the right. Man United fans rise in hope as the winger had drilled at shot aiming for the left hand side of the goal. Valencia's drilled attempted had struck the post and fell to Kagawa. The number 26 had shot but it was blocked in a desperate lunge in front of the ball. 

79 minutes into the match when Griezmann had been fouled by Giggs 20 yards from goal. Three players had been over it including Griezmann but it would be second half substitute Ruben Prado to try and equalise. The shot had been just wide of the right hand post but it had looked as if De Gea would have it under control. 

At full time and Manchester United get their 3 points to move top of Group A. A lot of pressure had been put on Moyes to win this game and he did after an own goal just 2 minutes in send the Spaniards home with no point. Next up is a home visit for Stoke City 3pm Saturday.
