Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Manchester United- BPL Game 19
An unbeaten run wish will run on however a draw which will feel like two points dropped away at White Hart Lane.
Spurs did present their own short flurries of chances but it was United who should have scored all of their clear cut opportunities.
The first real big chance came on 22 minutes when Juan Mata's free kick had hit the post leaving Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie in a goal line scramble to try and get the ball past the line. Lloris and his defenders held on somehow.
Shortly following the ball was in the net however Phil Jones was in an offside position as the ball crossed the line.
A dangerous threat going forward as Mata, Wayne Rooney, Falcao and Van Persie all linked well (in the first half) . Anchoring the links between the players was Ashley Young who was a consistent threat on the left hand side.
Spurs' best chance came when Andros Townsend cut back onto his left foot and chipped in two Spurs attackers. They had only reqiured a touch to make it 1-0 however it was calmly grasped by De Gea.
The biggest chance squandered was from in-form striker Van Persie was through one on one with the keeper but took an extra touch. Th extra touch allowed Lloris to stick a leg and claw the ball away.
Young came close also with his effort creeping in on the top right hand corner only for goalkeeper Lloris to dive and punch away for a corner.
In all this is just the first half United were dominate and were creating the better of the chances however the tempo of the game changed in the second half.
The sense of nice fluid football washed away as a scrappy game was played out.
Yellow cards were of a plenty with four United players being booked in the second 45 minutes.
The amount of chances minimised for the Red Devils as Tottenham saw the best chances go their way.
Into the second half and United had chances go begging again as Robin Van Persie skied his shot way into row z when he really should have controlled his shot making it stay low.
Juan Mata also encountered the same problem as Rafael's low cross left him with a simple chance to roll the ball home. Instead of keeping he ball down he managed to fired just inside the stadium.
Ryan Mason had the best chance when Harry Kane lacked onto a mistake from United and then played a reversed through ball to Mason. The shot had been smashed over the bar leaving Spurs fans frustrated.
Tottenham's late pressure was with held by Manchester United however David De Gea was called into action when Fazio's bouncing shot 20 minutes from time was caught and held by De Gea.
Overall it feels like two points dropped as we are left to rue the chances squandered by our top class strikers.
