Tour 2015: Manchester United 3-1 Barcelona

26/07/2015 11:05

Many Barcelona fans will put to excuses and conclusions around the world that 'It was only a friendly' or 'We didn't have Messi or Neymar' well that doesn't matter because none the less Manchester United defeated the current European Champions.

United last season beat Real Madrid 3-1 in a pre-season friendly and it was a joy to watch must like this exciting victory over Barcelona.

The Red Devils first half XI played 60 minutes before a whole new XI was introduced as it included youngsters who finished the game off in style.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring for United as he got on the end of Ashely Youngs corner to simply head the ball into the back of the net and give us a surprising lead. The skipper made no mistake in putting the ball past Goalkeeper Marc Te-Stergan.

It was a tight match although openings came for Barcelona and former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as he saw two shots hit the post and a goal disallowed which was made it extra enjoyable seeing him come so close to a goal and it be taken away from him.

We then made 11 changes on the 60th minute as a whole new XI stepped out and it only took a few minutes before the home grown Manchester lads Tyler Blackett,James Wilson and Jesse Lingard all linked up to set up a second goal. Lingard had been running into the box as a loose ball popped up to him as he calmly finished to double our lead.

Barcelona then quickly realised it was a friendly match and took off some of their big names including Luis Suarez as they looked to have seen that the game was out of their hands.

Adnan Januzaj who had been desperate for some sort of good fortune came agonisingly close as his shot from inside the box one on one with the keeper went merely inches wide.

However after the Catalan Giants pulled one back through Rafinhas volley it was Januzaj who picked up the ball and left Marc Barta on his bum, breaking his ankles (metaphorically) and slotting the ball into the net and giving him a much needed goal as he looks to mount a challenge for a first team place.

At full time and it is a great win which installs confidence although the match is a pre-season match it is still easy and enjoyable on the eye seeing your team beat the European Champions of the world.
